In just a few simple steps, you’ll craft a warm and flavorful masterpiece that boasts pure, wholesome ingredients. Ingredients
1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
1 ½ cups water
3 cups unbleached flour + more for dusting
1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)
1 teaspoon sea salt
½ cup shredded cheese
6 pickled jalapenos, whole or chopped

Directions

In a glass Pyrex measuring cup or glass bowl, begin by warming 1 ½ cups of water to a cozy 110 degrees, then introduce 1 ½ teaspoons of yeast and a touch of maple syrup, allowing them to activate for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, in a separate large glass bowl sift together 3 cups of unbleached flour and 1 teaspoon of sea salt.  Pour the activated yeast-infused mixture over the flour and gently combine the ingredients with a wooden spoon or silicone whisk, ensuring not to overmix. Tightly cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow the dough rise for 3-5 hours or even overnight.

Preheat your Dutch oven in a toasty 450 degrees while you gracefully turn the risen dough onto the a lightly floured cutting board surface.  Shape the dough into a ball, then gently flatten and fold a few times.   When flattened, introduce shredded cheese and jalapeños.  Repeat the folding action a few more times and gently form a ball to encapsulate the cheese and jalapeños.

Lay the shaped dough onto parchment paper and transfer it gently into the preheated Dutch oven with care. Cover the Dutch oven and let the magic happen for 30 minutes. As the aroma of baking bread fills your kitchen, remove the lid and continue baking for an additional 20-30 minutes with a peek here and there through the lit oven door until you’ve reached your desired level of outer crunchiness. Ovens vary, so keep a watchful eye.

When the bread achieves that perfect melt-in-your-mouth perfection, retrieve it from the oven and let it cool on a rack for 20 minutes. The result?
