Fried Apple and Walnut Crisp
Yield 1 serving
Ingredients
1 apple, your choice, cored, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon unrefined coconut oil
¼ cup walnuts, premeasured then roughly chopped
¼ teaspoon Chinese 5-spice powder
Garnish Ideas: drizzle of honey or maple syrup and a dash of cinnamon
Directions
Preheat cast-iron skillet with coconut oil, toss in apple and walnuts; sauté for 2 minutes. Add Chinese 5-spice powder and sauté for an additional 3 minutes; add to a small plate and drizzle with honey or maple syrup and a dash of cinnamon. Spice it up a bit and add a dash of cayenne. I love cayenne in just about everything!
