Tumeric Paste
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup turmeric powder 🌿
- 1/3 cup coconut oil 🥥
- 1 cup water 💧
- 2-3 teaspoon black pepper 🌶️
Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine the turmeric powder and water. Stir the mixture continuously over medium heat until it thickens into a paste, which should take about 5-7 minutes. Once the paste has formed, add the coconut oil and the black pepper. Stir well to incorporate. Allow the paste to cool before transferring it to a jar. Store the paste in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Variations:
Here’s a guide on how to mix and match the add-ins for your turmeric paste and the quantities to use:
- Cinnamon and Cardamom: For a warm and slightly sweet flavor combination, add one teaspoon of cinnamon and half a teaspoon of cardamom. These spices complement each other well and pair nicely with turmeric.
- Ginger and Cloves: To enhance the paste’s anti-inflammatory properties, mix in half a teaspoon of ginger powder (or one teaspoon of freshly grated ginger) and a quarter teaspoon of cloves. The spiciness of ginger combined with the warmth of cloves adds depth to the paste.
- Cayenne Pepper (with Ginger or Cinnamon): For a spicy kick, add a pinch or up to a quarter teaspoon of cayenne pepper. If you enjoy a warming effect, pair it with half a teaspoon of ginger powder. Alternatively, for a sweet-spicy combination, mix in one teaspoon of cinnamon with the cayenne pepper.
Feel free to experiment with these combinations to find your preferred flavor profile! 🌟
